Pussy Riot Whipped by Cossack Militia

Members of the Russian protest group Pussy Riot were whipped by Cossack militia members in Sochi, Russia on Wednesday.

The militia group was serving as an informal police force during the Olympic Games, according to the Guardian.

Pussy Riot was attempting to protest Russian president Vladimir Putin by performing their song, Putin Will Teach You to Love the Motherland.  As they began, members of the Cossack pepper-sprayed and whipped the all-female group.  Video is below.

Pussy Riot arrived in Sochi, Russia earlier this week.  They've already been detained by police on multiple occasions for protesting.  Two members of the group were released in December after spending almost two years in prison for a "punk prayer" in Moscow, Russia's main cathedral.
