Metallica To Play Antarctica For Some Reason

Earlier this week, a rumor that Metallica might play a show in Anarctica surfaced.

It's true.

The band made the announcement on their website.  They will perform near the heliport of the Argentine Antarctic Base Carlini on Sunday, December 8, 2013.  Metallica will play inside of a dome and the show will be transmitted to the audience via headphones with no amplification.

Metallica is partnering with Coca-Cola Zero.  Latin American fans can enter for the chance to win an Anarctic cruise with the band.  The concert is a part of the cruise.

The show will be streamed live for Latin American countries.  The rest of us will be able to see the show at a later date.

Antarctica is the only continent where the band has never played.  Prepare to hear that a lot.
