Butch Trucks Sits Out Allman Brothers Show

Butch Trucks Sits Out Allman Brothers Show

Butch Trucks, one the Allman Brothers Band's original drummers, was forced to sit out a concert at the Beacon Theatre in New York due to illness, according to JamBase.  It is believed to be the first time that Trucks has missed a show in the band's 45 years.

Trucks, along with Gregg Allman and fellow drummer Jaimoe Johanson, is one of the band's three remaining original members.

Luckily for the band, they did not have to look far for a fill-in.  Duane Trucks stepped in.  Duane is Butch's nephew and guitarist Derek Trucks' brother.  As you probably guessed, he was named after the band's late guitarist, Duane Allman.

The Allman Brothers Band is in the middle of an annual run of shows at the Beacon Theatre.  However, it will probably the band's last run at the Beacon.  After Derek Trucks and fellow guitarist Warren Haynes announced plans to leave the band at the end of the year, Gregg Allman said the band would stop touring.
