Beer of the Day

BEER OF THE DAY: Goose Island, Boubon County Brand Stout, Chicago, IL

This is another highly rated beer. In these cases, try and by two or three. That way, you can enjoy one now and age a few for a year (or two or three or four) to see what changes the beer undergoes over time. I'm having this with steak, sweet potatoes, and asparagus...all cooked on the grill.

'Murica.

Look- like an oil slick pumping out of a geyser.

Smell-Booze all up in my nose.

Taste- But not on my lips surprisingly. Sweet, rich chocolate instead. No complaints.

Mouth- Full bodied and lots of sweetness from the chocolate. Smooth finish with very little heat from the bourbon.

Overall-A fantastic stout that made the meal stupendous. Get this, age it, and drink it with a good meal.

About Bourbon County Stout:

A really big batch of stout-so big the malt was coming out of the top of the mash tun. After fermentation we brought in some bourbon barrels to age the stout. One hundred and fifty days later, Bourbon County Stout was born-A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with a thick foam the color of bourbon barrels. The nose is a mix of charred oak, vanilla, carmel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer.
